Out the back window of the bus
streets twist and climb, buildings part and then-
the sunrise.

the huge blood-orange half-sun, climbing over the horizon
the pinkish-lavender hues of the sky
the early morning city smog
the river sparkling white and the bridge,
illuminated with a thousand twinkling headlights
its bases disappearing in tendrils of fog.
the farine five roses sign, ledgible in the midst of it all,
soflty blinking red and more red.
Montréal in all its beauty.
